Social media has radically charged the moms’ grapevine. Moms now connect instantly worldwide, but also across multiple social media sites or channels simultaneously. The result is an interconnected global network that can mobilize with lightning speed. We’ve already seen big brands like Motrin on the receiving end. But moms are equally keen to promote a worthy cause, spread a recall warning, support a mom in need or spread the word about a great deal.
While adoption of social media is certainly growing among all demographics, influential moms have learned how to leverage multiple connected channels at once. For instance, a mommy blogger is likely to be active on her own blog, but also participates on other moms’ blogs. She’s most likely utilizing Twitter to expand her network and promote her blog. She’s probably a member of numerous online social networks and communities that host groups. In addition, she may participate in a social bookmarking or voting site.
